TOP 3 REASONS TO SUPPORT THE ARTIVIST MOVEMENT:
“I love the Artivist Film Festival. It’s the only place where you can get the human rights people, the animal rights people, and the environmental people TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE, and you don’t have to call the Police”
Los Angeles Times – Erin Ailworth, Reporter
Do you believe another world is possible? We believe in a sustainable and humane global society. We know that oppression, cruelty, and abuse anywhere are a threat to humanity everywhere. We believe in collaboration, partnership, and finding a common ground. Understanding the interdependence between humanity, animals, and the environment is crucial. By working with individuals and groups, organizations and companies, we can create long-term solutions to our global problems.
As the only Film Festival associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information, Artivist is also the only event dedicated to raising awareness for international human rights, children’s advocacy, environmental preservation, and the humane treatment of animals through global films. Your financial support is VITAL. Every dollar goes into producing the Artivist Film Festival, waiving ticket fees for students, reducing submission fees for filmmakers from impoverished countries, bringing the Artivist advocate film program to high schools and universities, and creating community programs and partnerships with NGOs.
We invite you to join the Artivist community today.
Together we can continue raising awareness for humanity, animals, and the environment.
“One Filmmaker with One Camera can make all the difference in the world.” Morgan Spurlock, “Super Size Me”, Artivist Filmmaker
Advocate filmmakers often risk persecution and freedom documenting injustices in our global society. Each year, many films submitted to the Artivist Film Festival often include undercover footage showing a variety of issues from animal cruelty and environmental violations to child abuse and political issues across the globe.
Advocate Filmmakers don’t receive the recognition or support they deserve in the mainstream media due to political censorship and corporate greed. What is even worse is the increasing self-censorship which keeps filmmakers from touching on extremely pressing issues because they believe that no broadcaster will support their films, or even worse, because nobody cares. Well, we do. The Artivist Film festival recognizes the power of advocate filmmakers and advocate films.
Whether told through documentaries, narratives, experimental shorts, music videos, or animation, we recognize that film is a powerful way to both educate and inspire people into taking positive action to promote global change. Seeing is believing, seeing is understanding, seeing is connecting. And that is the first step in encouraging community, and global, participation.
“No other Film Festival has the crucial mission that Artivist does.”
UNICEF, United Nations Children’s Fund – Andrea Nevins
“ARTIVIST Film Festival goes out of its way, above and beyond, to raise the alarm for awareness and impact positive change.”
AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL – Bonnie Abaunza
Since 2004 the Artivist Film festival has connected millions of people to the works of hundreds of NGOs (Charities). More than just a Film Festival, we guide the public “From Awareness to Action” by connecting audiences to hundreds of NGOs, where they can actively participate in affecting positive change.
Each year we invite NGOs to participate on community panels and forum discussions, promoting their charitable work in connection to our film program. In return, Artivist collaborates with each NGO on audience development and reaches more than 3+ Million members annually. Over the past 9 years, Artivist has collaborated with a diverse group of more than 100 NGOs including: UNICEF, Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Global Green, Humane Society of the United States, CARE, Witness, Save the Children, ONE, Rock the Vote, The Red Cross, Human Rights First, ACLU – American Civil Liberties Union, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, SPCA – Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Environment California, PFLAG – Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, and many more.
